Anemia is defined as a pathological decrease in the concentration of hemoglobin in the blood with a simultaneous decrease in the number of erythrocytes. And, as is known, hemoglobin transports oxygen from the lungs to the tissues of the body. Therefore, the load on the heart increases - he has to "pump large enough blood to supply oxygen to all organs and your future baby. There are several types of anemia. For pregnant women the most characteristic are three:
Iron-deficiency anemia
With this kind of anemia, the formation of blood cells is reduced because of iron deficiency. This type of anemia is the most common among pregnant women (almost 90% of cases). Occurs for the following reasons:
- due to increased blood volume;
- a small arrival of iron, necessary for the development of the placenta;
- due to lack of meat in the diet, vegetarianism;
- due to chronic gastrointestinal diseases;
- anemia that occurred before the onset of pregnancy.
Deficiency anemia
Vitamin B12 is a part only of products of animal origin: meat, milk, eggs. It is not found in plant products. This type of anemia is rare in pregnant women and is easy to treat.
Folic-deficiency anemia
This type of anemia often accompanies pregnancy. There is a folic deficiency anemia during an increased body requirement in folic acid during pregnancy. And as its reserves in the body are limited, then with prolonged expenditure of internal resources (pregnancy, lactation) there is a deficit. Folic acid enters the body solely from food: bananas, melons, broccoli, spinach. This kind of anemia is quite dangerous.
We attack anemia
Curing anemia of any type is impossible, only by changing the diet. Therefore, you need to tune in and do everything carefully. We necessarily need a long-term intake of medicines for iron, vitamin B12, folic acid. You can take these funds only for the purpose and under the supervision of a doctor. The doctor will choose the dosage you need and will closely monitor the dynamics of treatment. Usually it stretches for 5-8 weeks, but even after all the indicators come back to normal, the drug is used for some time. It is very important that your diet is rational. Be sure to include in your menu such products as: beef, liver, tongue and heart, poultry meat, eggs, milk, nuts, dried fruits, pumpkin, cabbage, beets, cereals, cheese, cottage cheese, sour cream, beans, corn, fresh greens and honey, bananas, broccoli, pomegranates. It should be noted that meat products still need to be culinary, despite the popular belief that iron is absorbed better from raw meat. This can be extremely dangerous and often entails the emergence of helminthiases and infectious diseases. Of fruits, for example, those same green apples, which are often recommended for anemia, iron is absorbed very little. However, the vitamin C contained in them contributes to a better absorption of iron from meat. Therefore, eat fruit together with meat products. Limit the consumption of tea and coffee. The substances contained in them reduce the digestibility of iron. And for the consolidation of the result achieved by complex treatment, walks are very useful, especially in the coniferous forest. Walking should be long. Of course, any disease is easier to prevent than treat. But if it turned out that anemia overtook you, do not worry! You will definitely win a "victory" in the struggle for health. After all, anemia is one, and you and the baby are two! Proper treatment of anemia and the intake of necessary vitamins is the key to success and the path to recovery.
