Treatment of children's enuresis

One of the main psychological and medical problems of pre-school children is a "wet bed". This problem is called enuresis. It is quite common among children older than five years. Both the child's parents and the child himself are most often upset and confused by this problem and are embarrassed to consult a doctor, often missing the right moment.

There are many approaches and methods for treating childhood enuresis. One of them is dietary treatment, the essence of which is that after lunch the child is not given liquid food and water. In the evening he can eat a "dry dinner" from a small amount of bread, meat, eggs and butter, and for the night a little bit of any salty foods, such as sandwiches with caviar, ham or herring. However, in practice, this method is difficult to apply, especially if the child does not even go to school. For this reason, other, milder variants of this treatment are tried for the treatment of enuresis, that is, they increase the share of various berries such as blueberries, lingonberries, viburnum, herbs and fennel fruits, anise, oats in the baby's diet. At night, the child is given a spoonful of honey, which helps to calm the central nervous system, and also reduces the burden on the kidneys by retaining moisture.

If phytotherapy is practiced for the treatment of enuresis, phytosets are selected in a special way, which include plants that normalize the work of the cardiovascular and nervous systems, and also have a calming and anti-inflammatory effect. Such properties include such herbs as immortelle (flowers), nettle, St. John's wort, herb crust, yarrow herb, herbage, mountain arnica flowers, cuff leaves, anise, licorice and valerian, calendula, dill and cumin fruits, sage and mountaineer leaves of avian , cowberry, grass shepherd's bags, grass horsetail and many others.

The third way to treat enuresis is hypnosis and psychotherapy. In these techniques, much attention is paid to parents, as well as to all those relatives who maintain a trusting and warm relationship with the child. The essence of these techniques is that before going to bed, someone who the child most trusts, usually a mother, inspires him that at night, if necessary, he can wake up and go to the toilet, and tomorrow morning everything will be fine. The monologue is pronounced in a calm, quiet voice, lasting at least 5 minutes, while the child must already fall asleep.

Therapy of nocturnal urinary incontinence in children with the help of reflexotherapy implies a massage of active points on the surface of the skin in a child. Throughout the procedure, that is, within a minute, the child massages only two points - just below the navel and on the inner side of the shin. The time, during which the massage of each point is performed, should not exceed half a minute. The massage should be done every day for ten days, after which a break takes place during the week. If the child is young, massage should be conducted no more than twice a week.

Methods of physiotherapy with enuresis of a neurotic type usually include an electrosleep, with which the sleep process normalizes and emotional stability is strengthened. Simply put, the essence of the method is that with the help of a special device the child wakes up when he just wants to go to the toilet and can go off in a little way. Thus, the child gradually develops a reflex if necessary to wake up at night, in order to go to the toilet.

In the treatment of drugs are prescribed various medications. Since the treatment should be performed only by a specialist who, based on the nature of the disease and the individual characteristics of the body, prescribes the required treatment, in this article we will not give the most common treatment regimens. We only note that in most cases, such drugs as driptan, proserin, picamilon, novopassit, desmopressin (minirin), diazepam, nootropil, persen, ephedrine and others are used most often.

It should be realized that the treatment of nocturnal incontinence should be comprehensive. Only if you follow all the recommendations of a doctor you can achieve success. Therefore, be patient and hope that your child will be fine.
