In fact, nuts can only be called fruits with one very hard thick shell and not attached nucleus to it. These requirements are met, for example, cashews, hazelnuts and pine nuts. But peanuts, almonds and pistachios, according to the classification of botanists, are not nuts at all, although they do not differ in their taste qualities and useful properties from "real" nuts.
