Vegetative reproduction of indoor plants

Vegetative reproduction of indoor plants - in indoor floriculture is the most common method of reproduction. Vegetative reproduction makes it possible to preserve the characteristics of the mother plant, and also to receive flowering or formed houseplants faster than in the seed growing. Various ways of vegetative reproduction of houseplants are known: cuttings, root offsprings, children, mustaches, and others.

Reproduction by baby bulbs

Right next to the bulb grow bulbous children. For transplantation, the largest of them should be selected and placed in the substrate.

Propagation by offspring

Near the mother plant of the lateral shoots appear tiny plant. If the offspring are pretty strong, then using a sharp knife, they can be cut off close to the main shoot, and then planted in a prepared wet soil.

Reproduction of plants by children (leaf buds)

On the leaves or on their edges formed a tiny plant, exactly like a mother plant. Typically, a leaf with a formed tiny plant and a petiole length of 3 cm is cut and planted in a prepared wet soil so that the sheet is lying on the ground.

Reproduction by appendages

At the tips of long peduncles there are tiny plants with air roots - they must be separated and planted in the ground.

Reproduction by layers

The use of this method of vegetative propagation induces shoots of the plant to form roots by contact with the ground. In a small pot the leaf node should be pressed into the ground with a hairpin. In order for the roots to develop more quickly, you can slightly cut the stem in a place where it touches the soil. Indoor plants with creeping stems are endowed with nature.

Reproduction by stem stems

A stem stem is a leafy part of a stem that has not yet been lignified, but it should not be very soft either. The cut should be made about half a centimeter below the knot, the length of the cut should be 5-10 cm, and the shank should have approximately 2-4 knots. Lower leaves should be removed and then planted in a prepared soil or placed in a jar of water.

Reproduction by apical cuttings

Reproduction of plants in this way involves the use of the stem apex. It should be cut directly under a couple of leaves, while on the cuttings there should be only 2-4 pairs. In order for the root to take root, it must be planted in the soil to a depth of about 2 cm, or placed in a jar of water.

Reproduction by leaf cuttings

There are many plants in which new plants are able to develop directly from the leaves. Such houseplants quickly start roots, both in soil and in water. For example, in Begonia, a sheet from the back side of the large veins must be cut with a knife and then placed on the soil. In order for the contact with the soil to be on the entire surface of the sheet, it should be strengthened with small stones. In the places of incisions there will be roots, and on the surface of the leaf there are tiny plants.

Reproduction by parts of a sheet

In some species of plants, roots can even produce pieces of leaves. To do this, the sheet should be cut across and planted in a prepared wet soil.
