What hides the head trauma of a child

Children and injuries - concepts are almost synonymous, especially for children of the most tricky and active age - from 3 to 5 years, when the child's personality literally breaks free from all holes when he wants to be taller, stronger, more skilful than everyone. Adults understand that this is often impossible, but is this something you can not prove? Of course, there are children who are obedient and diligent, who, from early childhood, are drawn to embroidering with a cross and other "sedentary" occupations, but this is rather an exception to the general rule, since children are mostly very mobile. Most often, unfortunately, during turbulent and sloppy games, an exuberant little head suffers - bruises, bruises, bumps grow on it, like mushrooms after rain - and that's not all, there are injuries and more difficult. Today I would like to talk about what hurts the child's head trauma, in which cases it is necessary to sound an alarm and how to act if something really serious has happened (God forbid we can experience this).

In fact, it's not a secret that they conceal the head trauma of a child. We know what a brain concussion is and every time our child inadvertently acquires a head injury, we with horror think: "If only it would manage, at least it would be carried away!" ".

Immediately note: head trauma in a newborn child, up to a year, usually, fortunately, goes without sad consequences (unless it was caused by a very strong blow, of course), since the structure of the skull and the amount of liquid substance in its cranium provides a soft depreciation during stress on something.

But still, any, without exception, head trauma requires parents to take a short-term trip to the doctor, since it is impossible to determine the consequences of it by eye. And what hides a trauma in itself in each specific case is a mystery that a specialist must solve.

Trauma in a child in the case of a head injury, usually ends without problems, but you need to be prepared for anything. We have already mentioned the concussion of the brain, let us dwell on this state in order to examine it, so to speak, from within. Although it will be difficult, even experts do not know 100% of what happens during a concussion with the brain. Most likely, the substance of the brain is sharply shaken and strikes the skull, resulting in the usual intercellular bonds being broken, but there is no rupture of the brain tissue. When a head injury in a child causes a concussion, this is manifested, first of all, by a consciousness disorder.

The next type of head injury is a bruise that occurs when the substance of the brain is damaged during the impact, there is swelling, there may be hemorrhages. If the situation is complicated, then the consequences of it can be dangerous, as hemorrhages and hematomas lead to compression of the brain. All these types of head injuries are called craniocerebral trauma, which, in turn, are divided into open (the integrity of the cranial bones is broken) and closed (the structure is not disturbed). If, on impact, the child has soft tissues damaged, then he does not have any dangerous symptoms, and this is just a bruise, which, however, must nevertheless be shown to the doctor.

What is the trauma of the head, what is the serious danger to health? Let's move on to the symptoms that will allow parents to make sure that the child's injury is really very dangerous?

These are the warning signs.

  1. You have noticed that the child's consciousness has been violated - and no matter how bright it was expressed and whether it lasted for long - the very fact of having this dangerous symptom is important.
  2. The speech of the child was knocked down and sometimes incomprehensible, although earlier it was not noticed.
  3. Behavior became not quite adequate.
  4. The baby became drowsy and sluggish.
  5. After a long trauma, more than an hour, my head is very sore.
  6. There are convulsions.
  7. The child repeatedly vomited (if only once - this is not a dangerous symptom).
  8. For a long time after the injury, the baby is dizzy, he can not keep his balance.
  9. The child can not normally move his foot or hand, feels weak in this limb.
  10. Pupils become of different sizes.
  11. You noticed that under your eyes or behind the ears, your child has dark spots.
  12. The appearance of bleeding from the ears or nose.
  13. After the child cried, he did not stop sniffing, a colorless or bloody liquid emerged from the nose.
  14. The child began to hear sharply worse, the image in the eyes seems to be wrapped in fog or twofold, he feels unusual tastes in his mouth, a strange smell emanates from the body, skin sensitivity is reduced, and goosebumps run through his body.

Doctors are strongly advised to immediately take the child to the doctor if, at the time of the injury, he for some reason was drunk or pumped up with drugs, even if he does not have any dangerous symptoms after a bruise.

Perhaps immediately after the accident, the child will not have any symptoms, but at least 24 hours after the injury you need to carefully monitor the baby's condition. If a child falls asleep, you should wake him up every couple of hours, asking at the same time simple questions (for example, "What is your mother's name?").

Now I will tell you about the urgent help that needs to be given with a head injury.

If the child does not have any dangerous symptoms, first calm him, then try to lay him down for at least an hour, exclude games and active movements and apply cold to the place where there was a bruise.

If the child has dangerous symptoms, immediately call an ambulance, check your breathing and blood circulation, you may need cardiopulmonary resuscitation. If the child is simply unconscious, lay him on the hard floor on his back, holding his head with his hands, if he is prevented from breathing vomit, put it on his side, keep his head always so that it does not tilt over and rotate. With the rollers folded by the roller, fix the cervical section motionless. If the baby is conscious, let him lie on his back, do not put a pillow. It is impossible to eat and drink, it is undesirable to transport the child (only in critical situations). If there is an open wound, stop the blood and treat it. If the integrity of the skull is damaged, you can not touch, press on the wound, just cover it with bandages.

As you can see, head trauma is fraught with many dangers, so take it seriously and visit a doctor!
