This summer was unusually cool and rainy. Soon the middle of July, and warm sunny days can be counted on the fingers. What can we say about the full-fledged bathing season ... What is the reason? Why did global warming not affect the Russian weather?
Where is the summer?
The reasons for this atypical summer are many, as well as the versions of weather forecasters. According to one version, a sharp cooling is caused by a series of "diving" cyclones that have come from the North Atlantic to the central strip of Russia. For "diving" cyclones are characterized by cold rain clouds, damp and wet weather. For example, in Moscow, the temperature regime corresponds more to April than to July. In addition, along the way to the south, the "diving" cyclones collide with anticyclones, so the weather looks more like a seaside - the sun looks out only for a couple of minutes a day and immediately hides behind rain clouds.
According to another version in the current weather anomaly, the Rossby atmospheric waves are to blame, which represent giant vortex flows that bring to the territory of central Russia icy Arctic rains. They act as a kind of cordon for warmer air masses coming from the south. Both the cold weather's cause is considered warming in the Arctic. If earlier air masses freely moved from west to east, carrying warm and even hot weather, now they are forced to move along the sinusoid - from the south to the north and from the north to the south. Accordingly, the central strip of Russia remains without heat!
What kind of weather is expected in July?
The representative of the weather center "Phobos" promises a warm July. The first decade of the month will be marked by almost daily torrential rains, but the warm weather in the second decade will more than compensate for the cold and dank June days. The predicted temperature will be at the level of +27 - +32 degrees. True, even warming will not be able to warm up ponds and swimming season, perhaps, many will not be opened. At the same time, "Phobos" hastens to make a reservation that long-term forecasts should be treated with a bit of mistrust. Representatives of the Ministry of Emergency Situations are not so optimistic - the agency warns of strong winds, heavy rainfall (including hail) and even hurricanes. People with diseases of the cardiovascular system should be afraid of temperature differences.
Will August bring back summer?
August is the most unpredictable month of the summer. From it you can expect both anomalous heat and dank winds. Given the latest trends, the first decade of August will be marked by a good summer weather (+20 - +25), so you can safely go on vacation, on nature, and generally enjoy the warmth and sunshine. But with the second decade everything is not so simple - cold air and rain will come to the territory of the central regions, but the total temperature will not drop much (up to +17 - +20). Any severe weather events that residents of the center of Russia encountered in May-June, you should not expect - except for the cool winds and periodic rains, August will bring nothing. BUT, following "Phobos" we also repeat that long-term forecasts should be treated with distrust.
