Experienced parents recommend making an impression when the baby is only a few months old. Basically, because the children at this time are much more sleep, and parents have relatively much free time.
Children's casts from puff pastry
This method is considered the cheapest, but you should immediately take into account that the material is short-lived. Dough can crumble in a few months, and high humidity in the room will spoil it even faster. Of course, you can extend the life of the impression, covering it with varnish, but still it will serve you only a few years longer.
- To prepare the dough, take fine salt and flour in equal proportions (for example, in a glass). Begin to gradually pour in water to make the dough quite thick. If the liquid is too much, add more flour.
- Take any container and place the dough in it, and then make a print. If desired, you can cut it, leaving a little dough on the sides.
- Bake cast is not necessary, because at high temperatures it is deformed. Just put it in a cool dry place to freeze, and then cover with paint.
We make casts from gypsum
You can perpetuate the pen and leg of your baby in the form of a cast, using a conventional gypsum, as in the photo. But this method is also not ideal. For example, if your baby is allergic, you can not use ordinary building gypsum. In addition, the casts are too bulky and heavy, and there is simply nowhere to put them. Nevertheless, we will tell you how to make it yourself.
First, we dilute the gypsum with water as indicated in the instructions. Take a shape (for example, a round cup or a small saucepan), cover it with a food film and pour out the gypsum.
When the mixture starts to solidify, we make an imprint. It is better to lubricate the leg or hand of the baby in advance with a fat cream or sunflower oil. When the mold is finally hardened, you can easily remove the handle from the mold.
Molds of children's handles and legs made of plastic
This is the most progressive way that will help to make a cast of a child's handle and legs at home.
First you need to make "rough" prints from the salted dough. Some recommend making them from plastic, but this material has a rather unpleasant smell and a solid consistency, so it's not known how your baby will treat them. PICTURE 5
Imprint of the salted dough should be well oiled. Take the plastic, slide it into a thin plate and fill all the holes so that it exactly repeats the shape of the child's handle or legs.
When the mixture hardens a little, it can be removed and cleaned from excess dough with a cotton swab. Cut out the impression and leave to cool somewhere on the windowsill.
Now on sale there are even special sets that help to make casts with your own hands. They immediately provide a container and a mixture for the print. Therefore, if for some reason you do not trust the methods suggested by us, you can use the kit and make yourself an excellent gift for memory.
