Baking powder for dough with own hands

Bakers and the housewives of the part resort to small tricks when creating baking. To make the dough soft, elastic, airy and not stick together in a huge lump, many of them use a baking powder. This additive is recommended to use and if the product contains no yeast. Ready baking powder can be bought at the store. But it can be easily done at home by yourself. There is nothing complicated in this, as the composition is represented by a combination of only three components. The main thing is to follow the recommendations and strictly observe the proportions.

Ingredients

To prepare the baking powder, you need to take a clean and dry jar. You also need to prepare the following list of ingredients: This ratio of components allows you to get a real baking powder, not worse than the store version. But it is worth considering that the use of citric acid in granules is not recommended. It is recommended to crush the product in a mortar or coffee grinder. The flour can also be replaced with starch, which will increase the shelf life of the baking powder obtained for the self-made test.

How to make baking powder for yourself

To make the dough lush and airy, many mistresses in the old manner extinguish soda with vinegar and the resulting mixture is added to the test. It is this component that saturates the dough with carbon dioxide, which, in turn, gives it a volume. However, this method is not considered the best, because from baking soda often gets not the most pleasant aroma and taste. It is much better to make the baking powder for yourself with the hand in the ratio indicated above. Step 1. So, where to start? It is necessary to prepare a dry jar with a lid and kitchen scales. Ingredients should be taken strictly in the proportion that is indicated in the recipe. It should be borne in mind that a lack or excess of a certain component can give the baking powder (and then the dough itself and baking) an unpleasant taste or make it completely useless.
Note! The spoon used to mix the composition must be perfectly dry, like the container itself. Otherwise, the baking powder will crumble.

Step 2. All the prepared ingredients, including flour, citric acid and soda, should be mixed in the selected container. It is very important to pay attention to the quality of the citric acid used. Granules should be as small as possible. It should be borne in mind that such a product is almost impossible to find on sale in supermarkets. That is why it is recommended to grind the component in a coffee grinder or blender. There is another option: citric acid should be poured on a sheet of paper, cover with the second and walk a few times with a rolling pin. In the composition, you can also add starch. It will not only improve the reaction, but will also prolong the life of the powder. In the video below there is such a recipe. The dishes should be closed with a lid.

Note! The flour in the baking powder for the dough can replace not only starch, but also powdered sugar. It should be used in the same ratio. Together with soda, the product gives an excellent reaction and improves the taste of baking.
Step 3. Now the container with the homemade baking powder for the dough should be closed and shaken thoroughly several times. You can mix the mixture with a spoon. But in this case there is one very important condition: the cutlery should be perfectly dry, without the slightest hint of moisture. If a drop of water falls into the baking powder for the dough, a reaction will be triggered inside the tank. Hardly such a mixture will later be useful for baking.

Step 4 . If you do not plan to use the baking powder obtained at home for the test as directed right now, then it is worthwhile to remove the finished product for storage in a dark and dry place.

Apparently, the preparation of a home baking powder does not take much effort, time and money. But the composition will be really effective and useful. When using it, it is recommended to pour the mixture only into the dry part of the dough, for example, sugar or flour.
