Blepharoplasty of upper eyelids

Eyes - this is the part of the face that you pay attention to while communicating in the first place. Thanks to the plastic of the upper eyelids, the most pronounced cosmetic effect can be achieved, which is what distinguishes it from other plastic facial rejuvenation operations.

If on the upper eyelids there is an excess of skin, then it can talk about genetic predisposition, age-related changes in the skin of the face. Over time, the skin of the upper eyelid loses its elasticity, as a result of which it covers the ciliary edge of the upper eyelid, because of what the eyes look tired, and the face is older. The plastic of the upper eyelids removes excess skin, so that the eyes look more open and younger. The plasticity of the upper eyelid is a more simple and less invasive method of blepharoplasty during which excess skin and hernias are removed. After surgery on the fold of the upper eyelid, a scar hardly remains visible. The operation itself undergoes local anesthesia, but if the patient wishes the operation can be carried out under internal anesthesia.

To an operation such as blepharoplasty, patients who are younger than those patients who need a more invasive facelift are resorting to patients. The most common sign of early skin aging is the excess skin of the upper eyelid.

Later, age changes in the skin of the cheeks and neck begin to appear. A similar operation can be used by those patients who need a more thorough correction. If the patient has only the skin of the upper eyelid, but at the same time the eyebrow does not drop, then they are prescribed blepharoplasty with removal of the skin of the eyelids. After a similar procedure, the patients look younger, and thanks to a clearer and more open look, the face becomes fresh and youthful.

Before proceeding to the upper blepharoplasty, the condition of not only the upper eyelids, but also the surrounding areas is assessed. If the patient has chronic eyelid diseases, dry eye syndrome, conjunctivitis of various origins, lacrimation, blepharospasm, eye diseases in the anamnesis, then they are not recommended to perform such an operation.

To date, eyelid plastic surgery is carried out by several different techniques. All methods are performed under local anesthesia. Anesthesiologist individually selects each patient effective and safe painkillers.

The plasticity of the eyelids is in the cuts in the natural folds of the skin. The incision is made along the ciliary line of the eyelids, so that the seam after the operation is almost invisible to others.

If the correction needs a lower eyelid, then transconjunctival (accessed through the mucous membrane of the eyelid) and endoscopic (accessed through the oral cavity) blepharoplasty is used. After such plasticity, there are no visible traces at all. Among specialists in aesthetic medicine and patients, these techniques have gained popularity for a long time. During blepharoplasty, skin excesses, hernial protrusions, removal of the muscles and skin of the eyelids are removed.

The operation itself is performed for 1 hour on an outpatient basis. After the operation on the same day, the patient is sent home. Some period after the operation there are hematomas, a small puffiness of the eyelids, redness. This is normal, because during the operation the skin is injured (even if it is minimal), which leads to such a reaction. Such negative changes in observance of all medical recommendations are quite fast, leaving only positive changes in appearance. Sutures are removed after 4-5 days.

In order to achieve maximum effect, the patient must always listen to all the recommendations of the attending physician, because the effect depends not only on the skill of the surgeon, but also on how the recovery period proceeds. After the procedure during the recovery period, it is not recommended for patients to work at the computer for the first three days, read, watch TV programs, strain their eyes, and do other things. Return to full-fledged life and work will be possible in a week after the blepharoplasty.
