Bulimia and anorexia - a dangerous trap for teenagers

Teenagers are concerned about their appearance no less, and, perhaps, even more adults. And, if one does not like that they are complete, then the other, on the contrary, wants to get better. By the way, if the weight seems normal, then the cause for claims can always be found - from the "curvature of the legs" and the shape of the nose to trivial acne, which almost everyone has at this age. And yet overweight or underweight worried about adolescents much more often. First of all, girls.

In most cases, this problem is far-fetched and disappears by itself in a few years. Although not always completely. But even in the case when excess kilograms or light weight does exist, this is - just an excuse to contact a specialist. Only complex treatment after qualitative diagnosis will solve a similar problem.
If instead of resorting to an endocrinologist and gastroenterologist to choose the seemingly simple and effective method of "super-diets", it is very easy after a few years, and sometimes much more likely to be on a hospital bed. And, unfortunately, even modern methods of treatment are not always able to correct the harm caused by diets, especially during puberty.
What threatens to fascinate with fashionable diets? Various violations of the gastrointestinal tract (GIT): from disorders of the stomach to stones in the gallbladder. Girls may have problems with the establishment of a monthly cycle until it is completely absent. And, considering that the weight thrown off with diets returns not just to the previous level, but also with the "makeweight" in the form of an additional two or three kilograms, it becomes quite too absurd to torment yourself with such restrictions. It seems obvious, but not for everyone!
Only a nutritionist can competently develop a balanced diet. Physical exercises are necessary. Without them, it will not be easy to throw off excess, nor to gain muscle mass.
The support of parents is of great importance. Joint cycling and walking, activities in the gym, "proper nutrition", not only for the teenager, but for the whole family, can all work miracles. But the whole point is that, the sensitivity and excessive resentment of an adult child can lead to the fact that he will take the measures taken by other family members as an extra proof of his inferiority. And at the age of 13-17, children usually trust their peers more, and the likelihood that adherence to the "advice" of girlfriends will aggravate the existing health problem by adding bulimia to it, and after a while anorexia.
If a child at first eats a lot and unrestrainedly, and then, after experiencing guilt, goes in for sports to exhaustion and sits on a diet, it may well be that he already has a nervous breakdown and to bulimia is not far away. Teenagers are exaggerated. Any unpleasant event they can equate to the universal tragedy. Nervous state may well try to muffle food, but overeating entails an even more severe stress.
Therefore, this type of disorder easily passes into bulimia - this is when there are bouts of agonizing hunger, accompanied by painful manifestations of the gastrointestinal tract. Often, a person suffering from bulimia, trying to control weight, getting rid of by vomiting from food just eaten, taking medication, starving. From the intestine the microflora is washed out, from the body - potassium and magnesium. As a consequence - heart attacks even at such a young age and various troubles with the intestines and stomach.
Anorexia is very similar to bulimia in the part of cleansing the body from the slightest trace of food. But people with anorexia have extremely low weight, which still does not suit them. Therefore, they try not to eat whenever possible, use various medications, and relatives say they ate with friends, for example. Sometimes anorexia is accompanied by a drug addiction, because you need a source of energy.
Unfortunately, on the Internet about these disorders there is not just an excess of information. There are special websites where teenagers are advised how to hide their condition from loved ones, publish information about medicines.
Therefore, parents must be alerted, if often there are devastating "raids on the refrigerator," the smell of vomiting and diarrhea (stool disorders) have become common phenomena. Some medicines, expensive things (this is already for the purchase of narcotic drugs) may disappear.
In neglected cases of a person who suffers from a "model sickness", they may not be in time to save. But even those who have been treated for these serious disorders - bulimia and anorexia - need to be monitored by specialists and the attention of their parents.
And parents should remember that accidentally dropped phrase, an innocent at first glance remark can lead to very sad and difficult to correctable consequences. Be attentive to your children. Love and trust - that's what they need always, at any age.
