How to choose a lipstick

The choice of lipstick the right shade is not an easy task. And only real women understand how important this is. After all, lipstick attracts attention to beautiful and sensual female lips . Fortunately, the lipsticks of the new generation have gone far ahead of their predecessors. Their current texture is lighter, matte, creamy, shiny (but not too), saturated color.

Step 1. Select the color

The color shades of modern lipsticks are very diverse and look on the lips more natural and alive, because they better reflect light. That's why choosing one color is not so easy. Especially since new transparent compounds are suitable for almost any shade of the face. However, some lipstick selection rules are still relevant:

1. If you do not like bold decisions, but prefer natural colors, choose lipstick only 1-2 shades darker or lighter than your natural lip color. Then they will definitely be to your face.

2. As a rule, white women get "cold" shades of lipstick - from pink to plum, based on the blue color. Women with a warm complexion and tanned women will be approached by "warm" shades, which are based on a yellow color, for example, peach or warm brown.

3. The color of your hair also matters: the darker your hair, the more vivid colors you will go. With blond hair, any lipstick will seem brighter.

4. Take into account the shade of your teeth. If the color of your enamel is slightly yellowish, then the cold colors of lipstick can make your teeth visually a little whiter. Coral and orange shades of lipstick, on the contrary, will only aggravate your problem. Wanting to hide the unevenness of the teeth, give up the lipstick of too bright colors: she focuses on this shortcoming. It is better to give preference to lipstick of light shades.

5. If you do not like some shade of your skin (blue or gray under the eyes, red or yellow, too pink cheeks, etc.), try not to choose a lipstick with the same color or shade. It will only emphasize your shortcomings.

6. Owners of thin lips should give up too bright and dark lipstick, as she visually makes her lips even thinner. But thin lips look bright and pearly lipstick, as well as shine. Full-lipped women too do not go too bright and unnatural shades, they look vulgar, despite all the assurances of fashion magazines. But the lipstick of natural tones is ideal for them.

Step 2. Check on the lips

But here you have picked up the color you need, made up your lips and ... you did not get the result you expected. Indeed, as a rule, on the lips, lipstick looks completely different than in a tube. The fact is that the real shade of lipstick is manifested only when applied.

How can you find out what a real shade of lipstick? Conduct a test tube on a sheet of white paper and see what color you can see other than the main one. It is easier to see on white paper, it is more difficult to disassemble on the skin. You can see the shade of the following colors:

Red / Pink : Makes the primary color of lipstick warmer, but at the same time sharper and deeper. Can also give a reddish tint to your whole face, so be careful!

Yellow / Orange : Makes the primary color of lipstick warmer and softer. It looks good on the skin of warm tones, but if you have a pale complexion, it may give your face a greenish or bluish tinge. It is also always best to choose a yellow, not orange, hue. Too orange shade can make your skin appear gray and lethargic.

Blue / Blue : This shade is able to give lipstick more dramatic depth. It looks good on the skin of cold tones.

Silver / Gray : Gives the lips a flicker, softness, depth - what is now so popular in lipsticks. Lightens and softens the main tone of lipstick, just make sure that it does not have too much gray-blue hue, otherwise it can show circles under the eyes.

Light green : This shade has the lipsticks of leading cosmetic companies, and usually it is accompanied by a yellow tint. You will look modern, but it may seem that your face lacks color. (Hint: that's why the leading cosmetic companies are developing such a large range of blush!)

Step 3. Secrets of proper application

The main difficulty in applying lipstick is to keep it within the necessary boundaries for a long time, not allowing it to spread and dirty your teeth, clothes, etc. Here's what professionals recommend:

1. Be sure to outline the boundaries . Before applying the lipstick, outline the outer contour of the lips with a light tonal base. This device will not allow lipstick to spread, and also create an easy contrast, through which the lips will appear fuller and brighter. Then the contour can be emphasized with a pencil, but only in the natural color of your lips or in the color of the lipstick, by no means darker. This will create another barrier against spreading.

2. Forget about the brush or applicator . Lipstick, which is applied directly from the tube, lasts longer, and its color is more intense.

3. Lightly pat your lips with a tissue . This will remove the excessive layer of lipstick, which spreads, because he has no time to soak.

4. Protect your teeth . To prevent teeth from getting stained with lipstick, TV and movie stars are usually smeared with petroleum jelly. But if you want to repeat their reception, then, most likely, you will not be deceived by anyone, and you will look just like a man whose teeth are smeared with petroleum jelly. Instead, there are other ways to prevent lipstick from imprinting on the teeth. First, do not stretch the lips forward when applying lipstick, in this situation, the inner area of the lips is dyed, which then stains the teeth. Secondly, after applying lipstick, put your index finger in your mouth and, slightly rounding your lips, slowly pull it out. On the finger goes all the extra lipstick from the inner surface of the lips.

Step 4. Look after your lips

The skin on the lips is much thinner than the skin on the rest of the face. This means that it dries more quickly and is more susceptible to adverse weather conditions: frost, sun, wind. Often moisturize the skin of the lips with special balms, or all with the same petroleum jelly or mineral oil. Vaseline and mineral oils stay longer on the skin, protecting its surface, whereas natural oils are quickly absorbed. A light layer of balm can be applied and topped with lipstick.

At night, apply your usual night cream on the area around the lips, where fine wrinkles appear with age.

Once or twice a week before going to bed, lightly peel the lips with a microgranule to remove the dead particles, then apply a lot of moisturizing cream.

Try to lick your lips less: this leads not only to the erasure of lipstick, but also to the drying of the lips and the formation of cracks on them.
