Junior Eurovision Song Contest: all the fun

No less popular competition than the Eurovision itself was the European competition of children performers. It was first held in 2003. The aim of the competition was the search and encouragement of young talents. Since 2005, children from 10 to 15 years old can participate in Eurovision and perform songs in their national languages. Today we will talk about the Junior Eurovision Song Contest.

Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2014

In 2014, the twelfth festival took place in the small Maltese city of Mars. Broadcasting produced the national channel RBS. In the children's song contest, 16 countries participated. The holograph of the holiday song was the Together hashtag, that is, together. Previously, the rules stated that the selection of the representative of the country is carried out by open vote of viewers, but since 2014 many countries have switched to internal selection, removing national qualifying rounds.

For the first time the organizers refused the traditional draw: participants sang in a pre-planned sequence. The first number was a representative of Belarus Nadezhda Misyakova with the song "Falcon". Alisa Kozhikina from Russia received the number thirteen. The girl played the lyric melody Dreamer. The concert was closed by Julia van Bergen from the Netherlands. Her song was called "Around".

Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2014 turned out to be truly girlish: there were only one boy among the singers. It was he, the singer from Italy Vincenzo Cantello, got the first place. The composition was called "Your first great love." By genre, it can be attributed to lyrical ballads with a vivid national color. The artistic boy with remarkable vocal data deservedly scored 159 points.

In the second place was the Bulgarian trio: Krisia Todorova, Hasan and Ibrahim Ignatov. Their song "The Planet of Children" brought the boys 147 points. Only one point behind the representative of Armenia - Elizabeth Danielyan. With the song "People of the Sun" she received a "bronze". Russian Alisa Kozhikina is in fifth place with 96 points.

Russia at Junior Eurovision Song Contest

Let's take a closer look at those young performers who defended the honor of Russia at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest.

For the first time the Russian singers went to the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2005. It was the band "Street Magic" and the soloist Vlad Krutskikh. The song "The City of the Sun" won 9th place. 2006 was a victory for our country. At the contest, Russia was represented by the sisters Masha and Nastya Tolmacheva. Their incendiary "Spring Jazz" won both the audience and the jury in Bucharest. Nine-year-old twins from Kursk managed to earn 154 points. The girls wrote the contest song in co-authorship with their mother. In 2014, the grown-up singers went to conquer the adult Eurovision and took the 6th place. It's a matter of taste, but young blond Russian women looked much nicer than the bearded Conchita Wurst.

In 2009, Katya Ryabova and her composition "The Little Prince" were awarded silver. Also, Russia won the second place in 2010, when the duet of Lisa Drozd and Sasha Lazin presented the song "Boy & Girl" to the public. By the way, the guys only one point behind the winners.

As we have already said, in 2014 Alisa Kozhikina went to Malta. A girl comes from a small village of Uspenka in the Kursk region. At 11, she has already participated in the "Children's New Wave - 2013", as well as winning the "Voice" project. Maxim Fadeev became the producer of Alisa, and he created the contest song "Dreamer". The text belongs to Alice herself and Olga Seryabkina (Serebro group). Despite the qualitative performance, the girl was not able to earn high scores: Serbia, Armenia Belarus - 10 points; Cyprus - 8; Bulgaria, Slovenia - 7; Ukraine, Croatia, San Marino, Montenegro - 5; Armenia, Georgia - 3; Sweden - 1; Netherlands, Italy - 0. Maxim Fadeev openly declared about the politicization of the contest and prejudiced attitude towards the Russian performer.

Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2015

November 21, 2015 in the capital of Bulgaria Sofia will host the 13th song contest among children. Despite the fact that the victory in 2014 was won by the Italian, the country refused to host another festival. At the moment, 8 countries have announced their participation, with Albania and Ireland making their debut. Austria, Great Britain, Germany, the Czech Republic and Latvia will refuse to participate. It is not known whether Ukraine will send its participants. Who will go to the most famous children's contest from Russia is not yet clear, but we hope that a worthy performer will repeat the success of the Tolmachev sisters.
