Initially, there were only 7 countries, but due to the fact that the number of those wishing to compete for the grand prize is growing every year, in 2004 an additional qualifying round-semifinal was introduced. Countries such as Italy, France, Germany, Spain and the United Kingdom go to it without competition. Together with them there is a winner country of last year. It is simply impossible to remember the Eurovision contestants of all the years, but we will try to tell about the most interesting performers and songs.

In 2005, the contest came to the capital of Ukraine - Kiev. The list of participants again included Hungary, Bulgaria and Moldova made their debut. In all, there were 39 countries. The finals were the countries of the big four, Serbia, as well as 9 countries-winners of each semifinal. As a result, silver goes to Ukrainian Ani Lorak ("Shady lady"), bronze - Kalomire from Greece (Secret combination), gold is brought to Moscow by Dima Bilan. His composition "Believe me" is gaining 272 points and becomes the absolute winner.

In 2009, the contest is hosted by Moscow. This year 42 countries came to the Russian capital. Georgia and San Marino refused to participate, but Slovakia returned. In addition to the Big Five countries and Russia, Lithuania, Israel, Sweden, Croatia, Portugal, Iceland, Armenia, Greece, Estonia, Denmark, Malta, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Turkey, Albania, Ukraine and Romania came to the finals. Gold, gaining a record 387 points, was received by the representative of Norway Alexander Rybak ("Fairytale"). With a large margin on the second place was Iceland Yohanna, and on the third - a duet from Azerbaijan. Russian singer Anastasia Prikhodko only managed to reach 11th place (91 points).

After the victory of Fisherman Norway for the third time received the right to host a competition, which this time took place in the suburbs of Oslo. The number of participants was reduced to 39. Refused to come representatives of Montenegro, Hungary, the Czech Republic and Andorra. However, Georgia returned to the scene. By results of voting, having gained 246 points, Lena Meyer Landrut from Germany won the song "Satellite", followed by Turkey and Romania. The staff of Peter Nalitch from Russia turned out to be the eleventh.

The victory of singer Lena gave the right to conduct in 2011 Eurovision the German city of Dusseldorf. 43 countries participated, 4 of them returned to the competition. Russia went to the finals, but Alexei Vorobiev earned only 16th place. The first was the duo from Azerbaijan Ell & Nikki with the song "Running Scared". Rafael Gualazzi from Italy took silver, and Erik Saade from Sweden - bronze.

57 Eurovision Song Contest was held in the capital of Azerbaijan - Baku. At this competition, Russia made a real breakthrough, sending the team "Buranovskie grandmothers". Folklore ensemble with their Udmurt tunes conquered Europe and won 2nd place. With the result of 372 points on the 1st place was the song "Euphoria" by Swedish singer Laurin. Eurovision in 2013 was held in the Swedish city of Malmo. 39 countries expressed a desire to participate.
