Proper nutrition from the point of view of doctors

Health and life expectancy of a person more than two-thirds depends on subjective factors, that is, first of all, on himself. The leading role belongs here to proper nutrition.

Yes, it can not be otherwise. Food is energy for work and life and building material for cells.

Naturally, traditional medicine, when addressing the issues of preserving and restoring human health, can not but pay due attention to the organization of nutrition.

The organization of proper nutrition, from the point of view of physicians, can be divided into three main groups.

1. Healthy eating. In essence, it is such a food organization that all people who care about their health should adhere to. Food should be varied, balanced in composition of proteins, fats and carbohydrates, rich in vitamins and microelements. The diet should be no less than three meals a day. Principles of regularity and fractionality of food intake should be observed. The consumption of calories should correspond to their consumption. For this group of food is characterized by the absence of prohibitions on the admission of certain products. It is clear that this does not mean that you can without limit use of foods containing a large amount of fats, spices, preservatives. In everything there should be moderation. Sometimes you can afford and smoked sausage, and bacon, and balyk, but only better occasionally and in small quantities. There are no special recommendations and prohibitions here. This is just a normal proper diet, which plays a preventive role, helping to maintain health for many years.

2. Dietary food. The organization of such nutrition medicine assigns a slightly different role. In this case, people who have various diseases are selected and recommended special diets - such diets, in which the use of certain products is prohibited, while others, on the contrary, must necessarily be present in certain quantities and periodicity. Various diets are prescribed to avoid deterioration of health, as well as to improve metabolism, the work of the nervous system, the activation of protective functions of the body. That is, dietary nutrition plays a healing role. At the same time, dietary nutrition can act as an addition to medical treatment and treatment procedures, so even sometimes it is the main curative factor.

There is even such a medical specialty - a doctor-dietician. Some people are recklessly addicted to new-fashioned diets for losing weight or achieving other results. In this case, the principles of the balance of food or the content of calories are often violated. And then comes the deterioration of the internal organs, vitamin deficiency (beriberi), weakening of immunity, protein deficiency. There may be energy deficiency - with a regular inadequacy of the number of calories needed for life, i.e. the daily consumption of calories exceeds the intake of calories from food. In this case, one can not do without the help of a dietitian with knowledge of the biochemical effects of food on the body. To restore impaired health, a special diet will be required.

With regard to diseases, virtually no treatment is not without the appointment of a special diet or recommendations for diet. Especially it concerns the treatment of various chronic diseases of internal organs. For example, if the stomach ulcer is given a fractional diet, at least six times a day in small portions. Sharply and fatty food is completely excluded. In hypertensive disease, the intake of salt, which promotes an increase in blood pressure, is restricted or eliminated altogether. Fats of animal origin are replaced by vegetable fats. It is forbidden to use strong tea and coffee, excitingly acting on the nervous and cardiovascular systems. And, for example, in diseases of the respiratory system (bronchial asthma, pulmonary tuberculosis), the amount of animal protein and fats in the diet is not limited, and even vice versa, fats and proteins of animal origin are preferred over the physiological needs of the organism. With rheumatism, the use of carbohydrates is substantially limited with increasing intake of fats and proteins. As can be seen, dietary nutrition is significantly different from the usual diet, which is due to the influence of certain food components on the biochemical processes occurring in the body, and, accordingly, a properly selected diet slows down certain processes (exacerbation of diseases) while accelerating and strengthening others (metabolism , hematopoiesis, tissue regeneration).

3. Treatment and preventive nutrition. This type of food is prescribed for persons who are exposed to negative factors (poisonous or radioactive substances, emissions, gas contamination), for example, working in hazardous industries: in the chemical industry, metallurgy, paint and varnish industries). Correctly selected diets of therapeutic and preventive nutrition prevent disturbances in the body, which can occur under the influence of harmful factors. Products are used that can accelerate the excretion of harmful substances from the body, bind harmful substances, slow down their absorption in the gastrointestinal tract, and also increase the overall resistance of the body to harmful factors. Rations of therapeutic and preventive nutrition are not actually food, but are taken in addition, playing the role of a source of biologically active substances that perform a protective role. In this case, since harmful factors are known in advance, the therapeutic and preventive nutrition is aimed at preventing the development of a particular disease or group of diseases. In different industries different professions are assigned different content of scientifically-based diets of therapeutic and preventive nutrition, which take into account the specific features of the impact of specific production factors.

Consequently, while confirming the postulates formulated by Hippocrates long ago, proper nutrition, from the medical point of view, serves as a medicine for a person.
