Heat the grill to medium temperature, lightly grease the grill with oil. In a medium saucepan, heat the oil over medium heat. Add onion and fry, stirring, until soft, for 4 to 5 minutes. Add sauerkraut, sugar, cumin and 1/2 cup water, season with salt and pepper. Cook over low heat, until cabbage does not heat up, from 3 to 5 minutes. Set aside.
