Bathing a child from the first days of life

Young parents should remember that bathing a child from the first days of life is a mandatory and very important procedure. However, this does not mean that hardly you bring the baby home - you need to immediately dip it into the water.

To bathe a newborn for the first time can not be earlier than on the tenth-twelfth day from the moment of birth. In no case can not neglect this rule. Bathing in the early days is forbidden for an understandable mummy reason - the navel of the newborn so far should be protected from excess moisture. The umbilicus is still too "fresh", consider an open wound, which, unfortunately, is an excellent medium for getting and developing an infection that, together with the blood, will bypass the whole, so weak, baby organism. That, in turn, can turn into a serious disease with imminent complications.

The umbilical cord should be treated by health workers, not by parents. Newly mum and dad can only follow her condition, and in case the umbilical cord is still wet and inflamed red after one and a half to two weeks, you should consult your doctor. But, although it is necessary to forget about bathing the child from the first days of life (that is, about two weeks), it will not be superfluous to periodically wipe it with wet napkins or gently wash the baby, but in such a way that moisture does not fall on the umbilical wound .

Bathing a child is an important moment in his life!

From the first days of life, you can bathe your baby either in the bathroom or in the kitchen, putting the bath on the table. It is very important that the place where you will bathe your treasure would be in accordance with sanitary norms. Everything should be cleaned and cleaned with an antiseptic.

For bathing a child, it is best to buy a baby bath and, most importantly, use it strictly for the purpose, rather than soak the linen in it, and then arrange there water procedures for your baby. Also, every time before bathing, wipe the bath antiseptic.

Up to four months of the child you need to bathe exclusively in boiled water, then you can and in the flow from under the tap. The water temperature should be 36 - 37 degrees. To accurately measure the temperature of the water, buy a special water thermometer in the nearest pharmacy, because it is so important not to frighten the baby in the first days of his life too cold or, conversely, too hot water. Once frightened him with this, you run the risk that bathing the child for a long time will be accompanied by hysteria and tears - because the baby can not explain that the water is good, and the parents just made a mistake last time.

In the technique of swimming there is nothing difficult. First, undress the baby and slowly, so as not to frighten him, lower it into the water. Be sure to hold the baby's back and head with one hand so that water does not get into his ears. With your other hand, soap it and wash it. From the first days of life before bathing a child, add a little broth of chamomile or a turn in the water. The time of bathing is best to choose in the evening, just before feeding, as the bath will relax your crumb, it will eat and fall asleep more quickly, and the dream after bathing, as a rule, is much stronger.

Bath for bathing you need to choose one that, in the first place, is well washed. Here we advise you to look at enameled, galvanized or plastic. Categorically, a wooden bath is not recommended, as dirt can become stuck in cracks, which, in turn, can cause infection. Once again we remind you that you can not wash a baby in a bath! No, it's not just "impossible", but absolutely forbidden! God forbid, there will be traces of household chemicals on it, and the baby will swallow some water during bathing.

After bathing, the bath should be washed and thoroughly, thoroughly wiped dry - after all, the bath should only be kept dry, since all kind of fungi and infection can nest on a wet surface.

If young parents never had the experience of bathing a child, and you do not know what accessories you need at your fingertips, we will help you organize the procedure so that you do not forget anything. So, should you have a bath for a newborn?

- children's soap;

- boiled water (the amount depends on which bath you bathe in the baby, but at the beginning it is not advisable to recruit full - half will be enough);

- broth of chamomile (you can take the turn, you do not need a lot of broth - up to half liter);

- a thermometer for water;

- a hairbrush (even if you noticed after birth that there are no hair at all on the baby's head, after all, after a bath swipe with a soft brush along the hair growth line - this will help to get rid of the crust on the head, if it is, and activates the hair growth);

- cream or powder (after each bathing the child from the first days of life, accustom yourself to lubricate or sprinkle all the folds of his delicate skin - to avoid the occurrence of sweating);

- a towel, a diaper and baby clothes.

Let all this inventory be lying next to you, at your fingertips, so that during the water procedures you should not be distracted from the child.

Water procedures are very important for infants, you should not forget this. Even if you are very tired, do not skip swimming and violate the regime.

But adherence to the bathing regime is not everything. For children, this is much more important than for an adult, because the child is still very poorly developed lungs, he breathes the entire surface of the skin. The main body of oxygen is absorbed by the body through its pores. And now for a moment imagine that you were too lazy to buy it in the evening, and in the morning they did not wash it up after a night's chair, but only wiped it with a napkin. So it turns out that the baby feels discomfort and lack of oxygen. So do not skip swimming, do not make your baby suffer.

Also, do not forget to clean your baby's nose and ears every morning. This can be done with an ordinary cotton swab. But be careful, do not get carried away, because you can damage the eardrum or nasal mucosa. In addition, a piece of cotton wool may remain in the nose or ear, for the extraction of which one will have to call specialists or lead the child to the hospital. If this happens, do not try to get it yourself, because you can make it worse by pushing it deeper.

In the mornings, do not forget to wash and wipe the baby's skin. Put it on a diaper and a wet napkin soaked in boiled water, wipe the face, and then the rest of the body. After this procedure, pat it with a towel and start feeding. Morning toilet is important for the baby no less than bathing. Carry out this procedure regularly - and you'll see how your baby likes it and how well it feels after rubbing.
