Food poisoning in a child, symptoms

Unfortunately, no one is immune from food poisoning. And no matter how much you care for and do not care about your child, it can happen to him. Little children very often drag dirty objects into their mouths or they can eat unwashed fruits. Therefore, every mother needs to know and be able to help if her child is poisoned. So, the theme of our today's article is "Food Poisoning in a Child, Symptoms."

The most common bacteria that get into food are Salmonella and some species of Escherichia coli intestinal bacteria. The main symptoms, poisoning these viruses, are diarrhea, vomiting, intestinal pain, sometimes high fever.

The ideal products for colonization of these bacteria are poorly processed meat and poultry, fish caught in contaminated reservoirs, damaged raw eggs, dairy products, and sometimes raw vegetables and fruits.

Improper preparation and storage of these products can cause poisoning. And if you do not comply with the rules and rules of hygiene in the processing of food, the multiplication of microorganisms increases. Especially cautious you need to be in the summer season, because from hot and high temperatures food spoils very quickly and the danger of food poisoning increases. Now let's talk more about food poisoning in a child whose symptoms all mothers should also know.

If, despite all the precautions, food poisoning does happen, then first of all the body needs to get rid of poison and toxins. The most effective way is to induce vomiting. The quickest option is to press the root of the tongue with a clean finger. For kids under the age of three, it is not acceptable, since a child can be very frightened and drowned by vomit. To induce vomiting in these young children, they need to be drunk with plenty of boiled water. For a 2-year-old baby, two liters will be enough. To drink such a huge amount of water, you need to give a drink in small volumes, but quite often.

A liquid and frequent chair is also useful in its own way. Vomiting and diarrhea is a protective reaction of the body, helping to get rid of poisonous substances as quickly as possible. But the negative side is dehydration. In order to prevent this and help to quickly restore the bowel activity to its normal state, it is often necessary to drink water or special saline solutions that can be purchased at any pharmacy. Feeding food and reloading the intestines is impossible, until the symptoms are weakened. If such a ready-made solution is not available at your fingertips, then it is not difficult to prepare it yourself. To do this, take 2-3 carrots of medium size, cut into pieces and boil in one liter of water. Then in the broth, add a teaspoon of salt, 100 grams of raisins, half a teaspoon of soda and 4 teaspoons of sugar and boil a little. Carrots can be replaced with 100 g raisins. After cooling, strain and you can drink. Breastfeed to give one or two teaspoons of this drink every 6-10 minutes, a child older than one and a half years, the dosage is doubled (three teaspoons) every 15 minutes. You can suck frozen pieces of ice from the juice prepared at home .

Typically, six to eight hours is enough for the body to come to. If symptoms of poisoning continue longer and clear signs of dehydration appear, call the doctor immediately.

In the home medicine cabinet there should always be medicines for quick help in poisoning and helping to cleanse the body of poisonous substances. When going on a trip or a trip outside the city, to the dacha, take care to put activated carbon in the pocket of your handbag, or other drugs that the district doctor can recommend. Before use, study the possible side effects, contraindications and dosage in the manual. Without the appointment of a doctor, do not give antibiotics and other potent medicines.

In order to avoid this unpleasant disease, one must not forget about the measure of prevention. First, forget to wash your hands before eating and before cooking. Secondly, be sure to heat food, especially in summer. Products that require cooling should not be stored at room temperature. Immediately remove them into the refrigerator as soon as they are brought from the store, after use when cooking. Even thaw the food you need in the fridge. Thirdly, be sure to wash the kitchen tools, dishes with hot water and detergents after each stage of cooking (especially if they come in contact with raw meat and poultry). Fourth, collecting sandwiches for school children, then put them in the refrigerator in the evening, and give them just before they go out. In cooled foods, microbes multiply not readily. Wash sandwich container every day.

And lastly, explain to the child what a danger is in swimming in polluted water bodies, and even more so you can not drink water from them. Raw water must be brought to a boil, and in country conditions - boil for 5 minutes.
