What is the post

The colorful Maslenitsa rattled off, and Lent came. The country, escaping from the tenacious embrace of atheism, decided to return to the sources of faith. Someone does it sincerely, someone - following the fashion or desire to be like everyone else. One way or another, but many people keep fasting or at least try to stick to it. Even official medicine does not doubt its usefulness for the body.

However, probably, our ancestors were not more stupid than us and much closer to nature, and therefore we lived in greater harmony with it than we did. However, combining the time of fasting with diet for weight loss, to put it mildly, is not entirely reasonable. Fasting is first and foremost a purification of the spirit, an opportunity to go deeper into your inner world, to know yourself and improve your personality, as far as possible coming closer to God.

During the diet, as a rule, not before thinking about the laws of God. There is only one thought in my head - how I want to eat! In a dream and in reality a refrigerator is dreaming, taking that image of a best friend, then a sworn enemy. Therefore, if you decide to fast, throw out of your head at least for a while the idea of diets and weight loss. Let yourself out of the snake's mittens to freedom. Just allow yourself to live. Live in harmony with a world that was not created by us ...

This year Lent begins on March 10 and continues until April 27th. Before Easter, it will last 49 days. According to the church statute during Lent you can not eat meat, fish, milk and eggs.

Doctors, nutritionists believe that the Orthodox fast is not only safe for the human body, unlike many diets, but also useful. Some monotony of foods and plant food contribute to the cleansing of the body, removing toxins and other harmful substances from it, causing disturbances in the work of internal organs and, as a result, premature aging of the person, depriving him of the opportunity to live a full life to a very old age.

There are during the post specialists recommend in small portions, but more often than on normal days. It is recommended to drink fruit drinks, herbal teas, kvass, berry infusions, juices. The daily diet should include cereals, vegetables, cereals, greens, nuts, bakery products. From bread during fasting, you should not refuse, so as not to deprive yourself of B vitamins, necessary for the body.

Strict fasting is not recommended for people with serious illnesses, small children, pregnant women and nursing mothers, as well as people engaged in heavy physical labor every day. And do not forget that the goal of the Orthodox fast is not fasting, but moral cleansing and exaltation of the spirit.
