Autumn work in the garden

Women who like to look after their own garden know that November is the end of gardening work. Trees are thrown off the leaves, and amateur gardeners are adding work. It is necessary to exert a lot of energy and spend a lot of time to prepare your garden for the winter and the new season. But what is needed to do this?

The plant has its own life cycle. For the garden there is a time of rest, and the task of its owner is to prepare each plant for wintering: it is necessary to insulate the plants, bring the soil in order, trim the trees, transplant the ideological shrubs, multiply perennials, plant spring bulb plants, collect the fallen leaves and clean up the garden. Below we will consider all these works in more detail. Even if you just decided to do the garden, and you will have no experience with this, our article will help you overcome all the difficulties.

Pruning of berry bushes and fruit trees

To such a plant well winter and gave a good harvest next year, they must be cut off. Pruning of trees and bushes is carried out in late autumn, ie in November. Let's figure out how to do it right.

Dry and diseased branches of fruit trees must be cut to the "ring", that is, completely removed through the outer ring of the branch at the base. Then you need to trim all the tops - the unfruitful vertical branches. The bushes need to trim the dried branches, excess shoots and shoots. All sections need to be cleaned and disinfected. For this you can use a solution of copper sulfate. Sections that have a large area, you need to cover with garden fumes.

Spring sprouts in fruit trees grow very strongly over the summer. Therefore, in autumn, you need to replace all pegs with higher pegs, to which shoots are tied. The strapping material should also be replaced or weakened if it becomes tight.

The wicker and raspberries need to be cut off all the shoots that have been fruitful this year. The remaining shoots must be loosened from resistance and pinned to the ground. Shrubs and gooseberries hills, and young berry tied to protect them from the severity of the snow cover.

Reproduction and trimming of flower crops

Perennial flowers should be prepared for winter. The aerial part of herbaceous perennial shrubs is cut off. Phloxes, aconites, echinacea, redbeki need to be trimmed at a height of 10-15 cm. For the remaining flowers, it is necessary to leave hemp height of 2-3 cm. The rubbing, millennia, solidago and astilba can be cut in the spring. Dodgers and flower gardens necessarily need to pour fresh soil.

It is necessary to plant the bulbs of hyacinths, muscari, tulips of icrokus, and other spring primroses before the first frosts. But the bulbs gladioli igeorgin need to dig. Digging dahlias can be done after the first night frostbite. Excavated tubers must be rinsed, cut out of their damaged areas, sprinkled with crushed coal, dried well, and then put away for winter storage. Gladiolus bulbs need to be cleaned, dried and spread out.

For the first month of winter it is possible to sow cold-weather flasks-fragrant tobacco, lupine, rudbeckia, calendula and cosme. To sow flowers with small seeds, dig them up on the winding in a bed of containers with soil.

Warming and covering of winter plants

Young offspring and heat-loving plants need to be protected from winter frosts so that they are not dead. How to do it? Very simple. Young seedlings and compact shrubs can be completely covered with a special covering material for plants. Pletistyrosis and clematis need to be removed from the supports, the wattles cut off a little and then, coiled with a ring, put on the ground. At tea-hybrid roses before warming it is necessary to cut buds and flowers. Remember that it is possible to warm the bushes not earlier than the minus temperature will be 8-10 degrees.

Warming materials for complete shelter should be poured with a mound, and on top is laid a special coating or ordinary polyethylene. The edges are pressed tightly to earth or stones. Valuable varieties are best pre-covered with a wooden frame.

In order to warm the roots of young plants, it is necessary to cover the near-trunk circle with sawdust, compost or dry peat. To protect the stems from rodents, they need to be wrapped with ruberoid or wrapped around with ordinary capron pantyhose. If there are rabbits nearby, the trees need to be tied with pine needles.

For samshita, tui and rhododendra, winter frosts are not as terrible as the spring sun, as the sun can burn them. To protect these plants, wrap them with burlap or other covering material, except for polyethylene, since under the nematherapy may rot. That snow has not spoiled coniferous trees, they need to be tied and put under the branches of the support.

Cleaning of the garden

An important factor in pre-winter preparation is the cleaning of the garden. Before you finally prepare a garden for winter, it needs to restore order. First and foremost, order carefully put on the crowns of bushes and trees. After the sanitary trimming with a branch, remove all the dried fruits, as well as the nests of butterflies. Everything must be burned. You can ship the stalks of cut plants, the fallen leaves and other waste products. Such a fire will help to destroy some pests that have prepared for the winter.

In the middle of the roundabouts of berry-trees and trees, dig up the earth, but do not disassemble earth lumps. Thanks to this measure, the soil will freeze, and the pests infesting in it will die. Also, in order to prevent the destruction of pests, it is necessary to whiten lime with skeletal branches and tree trunks. Dry leaves and woody bark use to mulch the soil under non-susceptible shrubs and trees.

Lawn is cleaned of moss, dry grass and leaves. Do not forget to cut it. November is the best time to spend the last haircut - the grass before the frost will have time to grow several centimeters. The taller one can vyperate and freeze. If the lawn has become bald in places, then it is necessary to add seeds to these places (the ants will no longer remove them and will be able to germinate before the first haircut).

If your garden has a pond, then it must also be prepared for winter. From small artificial ponds water must be drained (at least a large part of it). To reduce the pressure of ice on the walls of pond tanks, the bottom should be filled with incomplete plastic bottles with water or logs.

If the fishes are deep and they are inhabited by plants or fish, they must be prepared in winter more carefully. The pond must be thoroughly cleaned from the fallen leaves before the first frost. Heat-loving pond plants in pots or baskets should be moved to the place where the water does not freeze. If the depth of the pond is not less than eighty centimeters, the fish in it will safely overwinter. It is only necessary to take care that the surface of the water is not covered with ice. To do this, you can buy and arrange special systems that do not allow the appearance of an ice crust.

Lose no time and proceed now to garden work. Only one month left before the onset of winter. However, one must also take into account the fact that many of the work must be done before the first frost. And winters in our country are very unpredictable and may come early. So do not delay the work for later.
