Cesarean section is an operation by which doctors extract a child from the mother's abdomen. Often such an operation is experienced by women who have had similar experiences in the past. However, many women who gave birth by Caesarean section can later give birth independently. The question of normal births after a previous cesarean section is decided individually by the attending physician. Therefore, if you intend to give birth naturally, and previous births were of a surgical nature, be sure to consult your gynecologist.
How is the cesarean section?
At the beginning of the operation, the surgeon cuts the skin of the abdominal wall, then dissects the wall of the uterus. Usually a transverse incision is made, which, as a rule, heals well. After opening the uterine cavity, the doctor dissects the fetal bladder and takes out the baby. Then he sews up the uterus and abdominal wall.
Anesthesia during surgery can be in the form of spinal or epidural analgesia, which allows the woman in labor to be conscious. Being conscious, she can immediately see her baby after his birth.
Indications for caesarean section
There are two groups of indications for caesarean section:
Relative. Include a variety of diseases and circumstances, when the cesarean section is the most favorable solution. This means that natural birth can lead to undesirable consequences. In this case, the doctor must analyze the situation and make a final decision.
Absolute. These are all cases in which cesarean section is considered to be the only correct way out of the situation.
What are the advantages and disadvantages of cesarean delivery?
In many situations, the cesarean section ensures the birth of a healthy baby. But this is the main purpose of pregnancy. Therefore, do not be discouraged if you need this operation, remember your child.
The main disadvantage of cesarean delivery is that it can bring various complications caused by a surgical operation. It is a shock due to blood loss, damage to other organs, bleeding and infection. If such consequences occur, the woman should remain in the hospital until recovery.
Also Caesarean section can negatively affect the health of the child. The fact is that during normal childbirth the child interacts with various bacteria, which contributes to the activation of the immune system. In the surgical operation this does not happen, which means that the baby may not develop immunity to mild irritants. Such children often suffer from asthma and allergic reactions.
Excitement before caesarean section
Many women are afraid of Caesarean section. This is absolutely normal, since any surgical intervention delivers to a person discomfort, both psychological and physical. Therefore, if you are aware of the forthcoming operation, feel a strong excitement, do not be frightened about this. Think about the fact that you are not alone, and millions more women have experienced similar feelings. Imagine the end of the operation when you see your baby and press it against your chest. You will enjoy the minutes spent with him.
Be ready to discuss with your doctor any questions related to caesarean section in order to avoid additional experiences. If you doubt something, be sure to ask your doctor about this.
To relieve tension, try to relax as much as possible and watch the breath to make it smooth and calm.
Recovery after Caesarean section
Unlike normal births, cesarean section requires much more time and effort to recover. Typically, the recovery period is 4-6 weeks. And the first days are the heaviest. The woman experiences difficulties and pain, making elementary movements.
The food after the operation is made according to a strict scheme. No dense food, after 3 days giving the mother a chicken broth, meat or curd puree, porridge. From drinks it is allowed to use not so sweet tea, compotes, broth of a dogrose. The food should be 70-100 ml for each reception at 5-6 receptions.
It is also worth noting that milk after cesarean section may appear only after 5-9 days.
Cesarean section is not an easy test for a woman's body. But its outcome largely depends on your mood and compliance with all the recommendations of the treating doctor. In moments of distress and sadness, think about how soon you will become a mother and take your long-awaited baby in your arms, and this is the greatest happiness in life.
