Fresh ripe cranberries to sort out, discard damaged berries and rinse under running cold water. Throw in a colander. If the cowberry is not very ripe, let it stand in a warm place for 2-3 days until it ripens. Place cowberries in glass jars. Cook the sugar syrup in a saucepan until the sugar completely dissolves. Cool the syrup and pour the berries in the jars. Close the lid and store in a basement or other cool place.
