The most romantic is the story of a hopelessly enamored cook, who named the pie invented by him in honor of the lady of his heart - Charlotte. According to another version, the recipe of this dish was offered by the wife of the English King George III, who was also called Charlotte. But most likely the origin of this name from the ancient English word charlyt, which translates as a dish made from milk, sugar and whipped eggs. Classical charlotte - a kind of traditional English pudding, served in a warm form. Prepare it as follows: in the form alternately lay layers of soaked bread in an egg mixture and sweetened with sugar apples, and then bake in the oven and serve hot with sweet sauce or whipped cream. Generally, you can prepare charlotte with different fillings, but the most common is apple, because in Russia and Europe it is the most inexpensive and affordable fruit. Traditionally, apple charlotte is baked in autumn, when a lot of fresh apples. But in other times of the year you can use canned fruits from compotes or specially prepared for charlotte fillings.
