Up to a dozen different diseases are caused by viruses from the herpes group. One of them provokes herpes zoster and such a common disease as chicken pox. If the lot of adults is shingles, then chickenpox is mostly sick children. Science has been studying chickenpox for a long time, and a lot is known about it. It turns out that an infected person is a threat to society even before the appearance of a characteristic rash on the body, that is, one or two days earlier. It is enough to leave saliva on vegetables or fruits, to cough or sneeze. Saliva enters the respiratory tract, and then the virus is spread by the blood to the skin and multiple mucous membranes of the body. They can be affected by infection of the lungs, pancreas, spleen, liver.

Two weeks after infection, the rash appears almost immediately on the mucous membranes, on the skin, on the head. At the same time, the temperature rises. Shedding continues for several days. A small nodule (papule) turns into a vesicle (literally a few hours). Around the vesicles, redness is observed. About two days later the vesicles burst, then dry up.

You can not infect chickenpox with newborn babies, because it is not known what the consequences will be. In older children, chickenpox flows more easily, but in weakened children with reduced immunity and lacking protective forces of the body, chicken pox runs hard. If a secondary infection joins during the illness, complications may occur in different age groups of children. For example, the heart and kidneys can be affected, and meningoencephalitis, which has a virus-allergic origin, may develop.

To exclude the emergence of secondary infection, doctors recommend patients very thorough hygienic care. Children suffering from chicken pox are treated at home, except in severe cases. Children should take a bath every day with a solution of potassium permanganate pale pink, the underwear should be ironed.

Rashes on the skin doctors advise to lubricate 1-2% alcohol or aqueous solution of green (diamond green). No less effective is a 2% aqueous solution of potassium permanganate (potassium permanganate). Immediately after eating, rinse your mouth. Antibiotics are used only with the appearance of purulent formations.

If the chickenpox has become infected with an adult, the disease can be severe enough, chickenpox or encephalitis is possible. For pregnant women, the disease is especially dangerous, because at the beginning of pregnancy it can lead to fetal death or severe pathology, and in the end - there may be premature births or congenital chickenpox in a child. The consequences can be unpredictable.

For chickenpox there is no special prevention, it comes down to isolation of the patient. If the disease runs without complications, then the child will be able to visit the team not earlier than five to six days after the appearance of the last vesicle. As for children under three years of age (toddlers) who have been in contact with a sick chickenpox and have not been sick before, they must be isolated from healthy children from the 11th day to the 21st, starting from the moment of direct contact. In order not to provoke an outbreak of chickenpox among his employees, adults must also sit at home for a week or two.

We hope that our advice will help you if your child has become infected with chickenpox.
