Preparing the coconut chips themselves In the eastern recipes, and recently in the European, coconut milk is often found as an ingredient. If coconuts are sold in almost every store, I have not seen coconut milk in our city, even in hypermarkets, and they say that the price of it is very biting, while the coconuts themselves are cheap enough. So, we will make coconut milk, and at the same time very fragrant shavings on our own. It is very useful for this milk and during fasting. A few words on the choice of coconut: it must be powerful in your hand and when you shake loudly hear the splash of liquid. If the liquid splits a little or is not there at all, the coconut is already spoiled. Also, do not buy a coconut, which has mold marks on the eyes.
Ingredients:- Coconut 1 pc.
- Water 350 ml
- Step 1 For cooking, we only need 2 ingredients: coconut and water.
- Step 2 Take the scissors with narrow blades or a nail and alternately click on the eyes of the coconut. Two will be closed tightly and the pressure will not succumb, and the third will easily open.
- Step 3 Expand the eye hole and pour out the liquid from the coconut. It's coconut water, it's not useful anywhere, but you can just drink it, it tastes sweet-salty.
- Step 4 Take the hammer, measure from the top a third and start with a sharp end of the hammer tapping the coconut on the ring. A lot of effort is not needed, but you have to tap enough weight to tap. After a while there will be a crack. Inserting a thick knife or scissors in the crack, we break the coconut into 2 parts.
- Step 5 Next, we need to remove the flesh from the stiff part of the coconut, for this we insert a knife between the shell and the flesh and break the pieces. On the part that touched the shell, there will be a brown film, it needs to be cleaned carefully.
- Step 6 Pieces of coconut three on the grinder of the combine or on a conventional grater (in this case, the effort will be spent more).
- Step 7 Pour the boiled coconut with boiling water so that the water is level with the chips, and leave for 40 minutes.
- Step 8 In small portions, pour the infused coconut mass into a sieve covered with a double layer of gauze or cotton cloth. Thoroughly squeeze the liquid, coconut shaving postponed. We repeat until the whole mass is over.
- Step 9 The filtered out liquid is coconut milk. When you squeeze, notice how fat it is. Generally, the milk of the first pressing is called cream, but you can pour it again and make a less concentrated composition, it is usually used for soups.
- Step 10 Milk can be stored for 24 hours in a refrigerator in a sterile jar with a lid. After standing, the milk is divided into 2 parts, at the top there is oil, at the bottom milk, before using it is necessary to mix everything. The thicker the layer of oil, the smoother the coconut. I was not very fresh.
- Step 11 Spread coconut chips on a baking sheet covered with baking paper and dry with the oven door open at a temperature of 50-60 degrees. It turns out much more flavorful and tastier than the store.
