Fungal infections of the lungs

How can I tell if a person is infected with smoke aspergillas?
A symptom typical of this fungal infection is the so-called mycetoma, which is found most often in the upper part of the lungs, asphyxiant aspergillas (Latin Aspergillus fumiga-tus) with inhaled air enter the lungs and there they quickly multiply, forming a mycetoma that can be seen on X-ray of the lungs. Some patients do not feel any symptoms of the disease at all, others suffer from a recurring cough, and sometimes a small temperature can keep.

Mushrooms-causative agents of mycetoma with blood can spread throughout the human body and affect the brain, kidneys, bones, spleen, heart and thyroid gland. The consequences of this spread are different: it all depends on which organ is affected. Epileptic seizures, inflammation of the heart muscle or other affected organs may begin. In any case, the patient exhibits the symptoms of chronic inflammation: constantly elevated body temperature, lack of appetite, anemia and malnutrition. Due to the fact that aspergillosis (mycetoma) is usually found in people suffering from any serious illness, it is difficult for a doctor to distinguish the underlying disease from the symptoms of a fungal infection.

SYMPTOMS
When the disease with Aspergillosis often lacks clear symptoms. Sometimes bothersome annoying cough, unpleasant infections of various internal organs or constant slightly elevated body temperature.
Treatment of infected with smoke aspergillami
The mycetoma can be removed surgically, and aspergillosis is treated with antifungal medications.

When should I see a doctor?
Due to the fact that the pathogens of mycetoma with blood can spread throughout the body and recognize a serious disease, the first symptoms should be urgently addressed to a doctor.

Doctor's actions
Mycetoma (limited foci of aspergillosis lesion) can be resolved. This is a dangerous operation, so the doctor will recommend to do it only in case of a possible complication, which can cause a mycetoma. Miketoma, which does not cause any specific symptoms of the disease, is often detected accidentally with a lung radiograph performed for some other reason. From the focus of the disease pathogens can easily spread throughout the body, so the doctor will treat this disease even if there are no symptoms. The main remedy is antibiotics of systemic action (antifungal drugs that destroy fungi or inhibit their growth (similar to antibiotics that depress the growth of bacteria and destroy them)). Special antifungal agents can stop the growth of fungi, pathogens that have already spread throughout the body.

Course of the disease
Like most other infectious diseases, as well as aspergillosis is most often manifested in people with weakened immune system of the body. The main diseases in which the immune system is weakened are AIDS, tuberculosis and various oncological diseases, however, a weakened elderly patient may become aspergillosed. When the disease with aspergillosis may show dissipation - many organs and their systems are affected. If doctors manage to cure the underlying disease or at least mitigate its course, then the treatment of aspergillosis can be successful. However, in certain cases, the infection caused by smoke gray aspergillas is a complication of the underlying disease, as a result of which a fatal outcome is possible. Thus, because of a severe underlying disease, aspergillosis (which is not too dangerous) for a weakened person is disastrous.

Is it possible to avoid aspergillosis?
The best prevention is a healthy lifestyle that is able to provide a normal state of the immune system.
