Christmas gingerbreads According to the old Pomor tradition, the Christmas fir has always been decorated not only with homemade toys, ribbons and bells, but also with own baked gingerbread in the form of livestock. It was believed that this will bring a multiplication of livestock, and hence - and prosperity in the house. Such gingerbread are called differently: the horns, the roe, the lamb, the cow. In earlier times, these glazed gingerbread cookies served not only for decoration and food, they were wonderful toys for the baby. Nowadays there is little for whom the topic of growing cattle on the farmstead is relevant, so we will bake simple round gingerbreads according to the old recipe, especially since they can symbolize prosperity in the form of ringing coins. If you have a desire or special molds, you can, of course, bake real roe deer, representing goats and cows. It does not matter. The main thing is to be tasty, beautiful and fun. After all, bake, and even more so to paint ready-made cakes with a multicolored glaze, tinted with berry or vegetable juice - the occupation is very fascinating. It will be happy to take part and adults and children. If you want to hang your gingerbread on a Christmas tree, do not forget to make holes for ribbons in front of the baking.
Ingredients:- Flour, wheat 300 g
- Flour rye 400 g
- Eggs chicken 5 pcs.
- Milk 1 tbsp.
- Honey 8 tbsp. l.
- Sugar 6 tbsp. l.
- Butter 50 g
- Cinnamon powder 2 tsp.
- Ground nutmeg 2 tsp.
- Ginger dry 1.5 tsp.
- Soda 0.5 tsp.
- Sugar powder 8 tbsp. l.
- Water boiled 1 tbsp. l.
- Step 1 For cooking gingerbread we take rye and wheat flour, eggs, sugar, honey, milk, spices and butter.
- Step 2 Combine both types of flour, soda and spices: cinnamon, ginger and nutmeg.
- Step 3 Separate yolks from proteins (we only need yolks).
- Step 4 Grate the yolks with 6 tablespoons of sugar.
- Step 5 Combine milk, cream and butter in a bowl that can be heated.
- Step 6 All warm up until the oil and honey dissolve completely in the milk, but do not bring to a boil.
- Step 7 Add yolks with sugar and milk-honey mixture to the dry ingredients.
- Step 8 Knead a homogeneous, elastic dough.
- Step 9 Roll out the dough 1-1.5 cm thick and squeeze out the gingerbread with a glass.
- Step 10 Cover the baking sheet with parchment paper and lay out the gingerbread cookies at a distance of 1 cm from each other.
- Step 11 Bake in a preheated oven to 200 ° C for 12-15 minutes until lightly ruddy. Finished gingerbread cookies.
- Step 12 Prepare the glaze by combining the powdered sugar and water in a thick paste.
- Step 13 Through the culinary bag, apply an arbitrary pattern on the gingerbread and let the glaze froze for 20-30 minutes.
