Casserole with mince Shepherd`s pie is a traditional English dish, very similar to the Russian potato casserole. In fact, in addition to minced meat, the composition of the filling includes green peas and carrots. The appearance of this dish is attributed to the 18th century, with the beginning of eating potatoes. This dish was prepared from the "remnants" of meat, and it was considered a typical dish of the working class. Now this casserole is cooked with different types of meat, and even with fish! In mashed potatoes you can add a little cheese, then it will become more "strong", and you can do with the classic option with the addition of nutmeg!
Ingredients:- Potatoes 500 g
- Breadcrumbs 4 tbsp. l.
- Butter 20 g
- Olive oil 1 tbsp. l.
- Onion white 1 pc.
- Frozen peas 200 g
- Carrot 300 g
- Beef minced 300 g
- Milk 50 ml
- Ground nutmeg 1 tsp.
- Tomato sauce 2 tbsp. l.
- Step 1 You will need potatoes, carrots, half a bulb, frozen green peas, ground beef, breadcrumbs, nutmeg, a little milk, cream and olive oil.
- Step 2 Peel the potatoes and boil them in salt water. Then cook the mashed potatoes, adding a little milk and nutmeg to the potatoes.
- Step 3 At this time, fry the onion over medium heat, in a small amount of olive oil.
- Step 4 Rub the carrot and add it to the onion, simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally.
- Step 5 After a few minutes, add minced meat, and a little white wine (if desired) or water. Stew with the lid closed on medium heat.
- Step 6 Add the frozen green peas, continue to simmer with the lid closed.
