Food for strengthening of teeth

What can be done to prevent dental diseases? First, you need to eat right. Many factors, such as heredity, oral hygiene and others are also important, but still the right food is in the first place. In this publication, let's talk about nutrition for strengthening teeth.

Calcium.

It is the main component of the teeth, so calcium is extremely necessary to consume in sufficient quantities with food. Most of the calcium is found in the following products: in curds, milk, sour cream, bran, fish, carrots, beets, radish, lettuce, beans, celery, spinach, beans, almonds, honey, grapes, strawberries, oranges, peel of all vegetables and fruits . Also useful cold. In addition to food, to strengthen the teeth there are also medicines that contain calcium, for example, calcium gluconate.

The appearance of drugs containing a whole complex of calcium with vitamin D is explained by the fact that the absorption of calcium is sufficiently impossible with insufficient intake of vitamin D. A lot of vitamin D is found in the liver, fish and fish oil. Also, the human body itself is able to produce vitamin D in the skin under the influence of ultraviolet rays. Therefore, with the right way of life, sufficient walks and balanced nutrition, the need for additional drugs is eliminated by itself.

Phosphorus.

In the teeth, calcium is present in chemical bonds with phosphates in fluoride and hydroxyapatite. If there were no phosphorus in the teeth, their enamel would be completely fragile, which would prevent the teeth from performing their functions. In this regard, dentists recommend using phosphorus-containing products.

In general, phosphorus and calcium are correctly digested only when kept in food in a certain proportion. Naturally, to calculate the amount and adhere to these proportions, in fact, it is impossible, so it will be enough to monitor your diet. Phosphorus is found in green peas, lentils, nuts, celery, cereals, cod liver, fish, meat, soy.

Fluorine.

The tooth enamel, which has just erupted, contains hydroxyapatites (calcium and phosphorus salts) on the protein matrix. Over time, fluoride ions penetrate into their structure, which subsequently under the surface layer of the enamel form anti-carious and acid-resistant fluorapatites.

The main source of fluoride for the human body is water. Hence, there is a correlation between the number of cases of caries in certain areas - in different places in the water contains a different amount of fluoride. Unfortunately, it is impossible to independently improve this indicator, therefore some countries (for example, the USA) centralize fluoridated drinking sources. And in Russia attempts are being made to fluorinate water, milk and other food products. To date, the most acceptable solution to the problem is the use of fluorinated salt. At the reference to the stomatologist, depending on individual health of an oral cavity, the doctor can register fluorine-containing tablets. Such tablets should be taken strictly according to the prescription of the dentist, an overdose and uncontrolled use in 90% of cases leads to poisoning.

Why do teeth get spoiled?

One of the most common diseases of teeth is caries. It is accompanied by the washing out of calcium salts from tooth enamel. This is due to the presence of bacteria in the oral cavity, which multiply in tartar and plaque. Therefore, it is extremely important not to allow plaque and accumulation of bacteria in it. Features of nutrition in this case play an important role.

Carbohydrates are especially harmful to the teeth, but not all, but those that can promote the reproduction of bacteria, for example, starch, sugar and the products in which they are contained are sweet tea, confectionery and bakery products, jam, pasta, etc. Such food products have the property of lingering on the surface and in the indentations of the teeth for a long time and thus serve as food for bacteria. And bacteria already in turn form acids, corroding tooth enamel. Thus, over time, teeth lose calcium, and bacteria penetrate deeper and deeper, then caries develop.

Nutrition for strengthening and health of teeth: recommendations of dentists.

In order to prevent the formation of caries, it is important to observe several rules of healthy eating.

1. First, you should reduce the intake of carbohydrates. To do this, it will be enough just to limit yourself to taking sweet food or, if possible, to replace some of the sweets with less dangerous ones, for example, instead of using sugar, use honey. Honey does not form a plaque on the surface of the teeth, since it contains only natural sugars. Interesting fact - the remnants of eaten cookies can linger on the surface and in the grooves of the teeth for up to 50 minutes, thereby creating a favorable environment for the reproduction of bacteria.

2. Secondly, dentists recommend increasing the consumption of plant fiber, which is present in fruits and vegetables. Vegetables and fruits contribute to the natural cleansing of the tooth surface, which allows them to stay healthy longer, hence the fact - it is much more useful to eat a whole fruit or vegetable than the previously wiped.

3. Many products, for example, acidic vegetables and fruits, cabbage and meat broths, contribute to the production of saliva in large quantities. And saliva is a wonderful antidiarrheal remedy, it literally cleanses bacteria from the surface of the teeth, it still contains antibacterial substance lysozyme and calcium, which helps strengthen tooth enamel.

However, all the above rules do not force you to give up chocolate, sweets and other "sweet joys of life", especially since the lack of sweetness in the body causes a decrease in the production of endorphins - the "hormones of happiness." How to be? We recommend a simple solution - brush your teeth after each meal for 3 minutes. If you are not at home, chewing gum will help, which you need to chew 5-10 minutes after eating. But the chewing gum should not contain sugar, most often it is made from carbamide with the addition of flavorings and sweeteners. Rinse mouth after eating is not an effective way to prevent bacteria from multiplying.

So, lack of proper care and malnutrition can lead to the formation of caries, and, as a result, to early tooth loss. If you remember the nutrition for the teeth and observe a few simple rules, this will make you feel more confident as the owner of a smart glowing smile.
